It has been such a busy time and unfortunately I have totally neglected this blog!

So I'm just popping in to let you know that on Sunday 8th August I am going to be part of the Childhood Craft Hatch market which is on at The Atrium in Federation Square.

I am totally excited about this market, and since it is at Federation Square I am also extremely nervous!!
So, if you're looking for something to do on Sunday, come have a wonder in the city and come say hello and show your support.

Well this is the place you need to go... Buttonmania Level 2 37 Swantson St, Melbourne. They have a button sale twice a year, with one happening right this week (21/6 till 26/6), they are open 9 -5pm this week and 10 - 3pm on the last day Saturday. More information can be found on their website.

You will not believe how many buttons this place has, every colour, every shape, every texture, you name it they have it! They also have a huge selection of buckles.

I ventured out there today and got my button fix, and I would happily go back for more, but I will have to restrain myself. It's a lovely old building although the old lift was a bit creaky, in spite of this, it did get us there and back safely. However I am disappointed that I missed going to luccello which was right next door. This place looks like it had all types of haberdashery inducing vintage, oh well maybe next time, I'm sure my bank balance didn't mind!

Mother's Day is around the corner

This very special day is on Sunday 9th of May, not very far away at all! For those of us who still have our mums with us, we should consider ourselves fortunate and blessed, and we should also count our blessings, as we don't know if next year, we will still be as fortunate. Those of us who are mums ourselves, it is truly a special day, as our little ones do their best to make this day as special as they can for us. Who can forget that unique gift they purchased at the Mother's Day stall at school. Whatever your plans are hope you have a extra special day! On Sunday I will be at the Makers Market in Abbotsford. It's a lovely market, although it is often passed by. The Shirt and Skirt Market is outside and once people have been through that one, they are ready to go home and therefore don't make it into the Community Room where we are located, which is a shame. The Convent is situated by the Yarra and the Collingwood Children's Farm, it's surrounded by beautiful gardens, the Convent's historic buildings are full of studios, galleries, meeting and workshop spaces plus a choice of excellent eating places. So it's a great day out with something for everyone.

This was the very first market I did when I started, so it holds a special place for me!

Well, the weather wasn't fantastic and it did rain on the day, but actual market was great. Wasn't sure how it was going to work, seeing this time it was in an actual house, but I think it worked well. Everyone was so friendly and it was had such a nice feel about it, I think it was an all round good day! Good to see some familiar faces there...Little Cooties, Pivotal Express, m.e, and CurlyPops just to name a few!

You know, being a shy person by nature, I didn't think that I would really enjoy the market scene as much as I do, but I do truly enjoy it!

I do hope that I will be invited back for the next Made n Thornbury market!

Another Year Over

Well not long now before this year is over...and like the song says...and what have we done?? Christmas is only 3 days away and the new year will be here in another 9 days. It just seems that each year that goes by, seems to go by just that little bit faster. Is this a sign of us getting older and the years are passing us by much quicker?

My sweetpea is growing so fast, it seem like just yesterday that she was starting Kinder, but alas here she is going to be in grade 3 next year, where has the time gone. I recall someone saying to me one day when she was at the tender age of 6 months...."you know she will be in school before you know it" and I know I had the a look on my face that said..."are you serious!" But sure enough the time had passed me by and she was starting school, and here I am three years done the track, still wondering were the time has gone.

So as this year draws to a close, I wish one and all a Merriest of Christmas, and a New Year that will bring all that you wish for and more! May you spend this holiday period with your loved ones, enjoying all it has to offer you.

Only 7 markets to go in the next 4 weeks before Santa arrives, with the first 3 on this week! Can't think too much about it otherwise I'll get too stressed about it all...it'll be fun I'm sure! Lots of fun activities to keep little ones happy, lovely food to eat and hopefully some beautiful weather as well.
So only happy and calming thoughts from now on please...where is that relaxation tape...I know it's around here somewhere...why is it that you can never find things when you need them....only happy and claming thoughts remember?

That is exactly what I was thinking yesterday. The weather had cooled down, it was a lovely day outside, so why o why was there no-one coming? Where was I you ask? I was at the Makers Market at Abbotsford Convent, along with my fellow stallholders, who were also asking "where is everyone?" Outside the Shirt & Skirt Market was also rather quiet and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it all. You would think with Christmas around the corner, everyone would be starting their Christmas shopping. Or perhaps there were in the shopping centres rather than at our lovely handmade market. With so many markets popping up now as we approach Christmas, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. There are so many talented people out there making so many unique and one of a kind products, it would be a shame if they don't get the support and the appreciation they deserve, and all it takes is for someone to buy one of your items, there is no better feeling!

Where has this year gone to I ask, only 48 days till Christmas, yes that's right 48! The shops have been decked out with Christmas merchandise for at least a month now, and, when I first noticed it, I thought, "there's still plenty of time". But now with only 48 days to go and with practically no Christmas shopping done, I wish I had taken more notice.

I need to stay cool, calm and collected and finish off my Christmas shopping, my list is not long...well, I don't actually have a list, which may be a problem...note to self, make a list first, make a shopping date and get it done. Sounds simple doesn't it, but I'm sure it's not going to be, after all did I mention there's only 48 days till Christmas!

What a lovely day it was, Melbourne turned on the sunshine and it stayed that way all day!

Although the day started off with a bit of a disaster for me, as I eagerly began to set up my stall, as I unpacked, panic started to come over me, as I realised that I failed to pack my tablecloth. So there I was 45 mins from home with no chance of going back to recover it. After "my dearest" (husband) scrambled through the car in search of something suitable, all he could come up with was a very old and shabby looking blanket. What was I to do...so in a panic and embarrassed state, I thought I would go over say hello to Felicity of Flicketty Splits and humbly ask if maybe she had a spare tablecloth and low and behold she always packs a spare! What a lifesaver!!

So once again thank-you, thank-you Felicity!! I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

Anyhow, after that little hick-up the day was a huge success, with lots of people coming to check out the new market and all it had to offer. The lovely ladies should be extremely proud of what they have produced! I can't wait to be a part of the next one!

Sorry no photos this time, forgot my camera too...and here I was thinking that I am an organised person, doesn't look like it does it?

Just one more sleep to go before the FIRST EVER Northside Makers Market! How exciting!

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and encourage everyone to venture out, which in turn will bring them to us. But hang on...do I have enough stock, have I forgotten anything, what else do I need to do...but then again, this isn't MY first market so why am I in such a panic? Perhaps because I want this market to be a hit, I believe there's been a lot of effort gone into making this a great market, a market the "northerners" can be proud of, one that will put us on the map of craft markets.

So I hope and pray it is a great day for all involved, so that the organizers, Jennie, Jay and Margaret can be proud, although I think they should already be proud of what they have accomplished so far, their vision and thoughts on this market have been truly inspirational.

So well done and good luck to all!

Today we go back to our normal routine as "my sweetpea" goes back to school, and so the school drop off begins, then my l-o-n-g trip into work 2 days a week, followed by l-o-n-g trip back for school pick up. When I'm not going into work, my days are filled with volunteering at school as well as the usual domestic duties...cleaning, washing, groceries and trying to fit as much creating as possible, before the pick up run.

I will miss spending my days with my sweetpea, even though I jokingly proclaimed I would be dancing my way back to the car and singing "Everybody Dance Now!" after the drop off...she certainly wasn't impressed!

It wasn't a extremely eventful school holiday, we happily spent our days shopping, doing little activities and generally enjoying each others company, we even managed to do some crafting together. On one of our shopping trips to Spotlight we picked up a little felt sewing kit. I was a little reluctant, as I though it would end in frustration, followed by a little tizzy fit due to not being able to accomplish the task. However I am pleased to say she completed the project with ease and produced "Bella the Bird" a lovely little bird for her very first sewing project.

I think at 7 she is the perfect age to start some serious sewing training. Now I just need to find some sewing projects that are age appropriate....any suggestions?

I have been very busy, busy of late, making lots of bright and colourful things to take along to my new market the Northside Makers Market. I was very excited to have been accepted into this market! This is a brand new market showcasing handcrafted and unique things, all made by crafters from the northern suburbs. I'm sure there is going to be a range of beautiful things on offer, with the many talented stallholders we have in the north.

A Sunny Saturday Afternoon

What a lovely afternoon this has been, the sun is shinning, the birds are singing and it really feels like spring has sprung! I actually managed to get out today, rather than doing the usual Saturday things...cleaning, washing....etc etc. I picked up my mum and we went to have a look at the Made n Thornury market. I have heard such nice things about this one and it does have a lovely vibe to it, all the more my disappointment of not being part of it, but I was slow off the mark and found out about it way too late. While I was there I saw some familiar faces, like Flickettysplits. I also was able to put some faces to Finki and Tinniegirl , some fimilar names from blogland. It truely inspiring to see some of the things that others create, the imagination and uniqueness. Whilst I was there I was able to pick up my application for the The Northside Makers Market, which I am very excited about and so looking forward being a part of. Who knew so much was happening out there in the crafting world and in the Northern Suburbs to boot!! Bring it on!

Brain Overload...

There just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day anymore, where does all the time go?

My brain seems to be in overload at the moment...so much going on in there, so many ideas, thoughts, things to do, things that HAVE to be done, but nothing is actually eventuating! I think I need to get gather my thoughts, get a list together and get things done! But we all know, that lots of things that need to be done, are indeed what we least like doing, therefore the reason they don't get done sooner rather than later. Hence what we do like to do, doesn't get done either, because we feel so guilty we haven't done the things we should be doing...and the cycle continues.

So I think it's time to get things done, and stop spending so much time procrastinating about what needs to be done...I'll...just go do some research first on....well maybe not right now.

Hello,
Welcome to my blog, I'm only new at this, so please be gentle with me.
I have always enjoyed doing all things crafty and sewing clothes for my lovely daughter. Late last year I was inspired to something with my creative abilities and so I began doing craft markets. It was rather scary at first, but now I love it! Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of my creations soon.

So now I have decided to start this blog and share my experiences with you. So please keep popping in, have a look and tell me what you think.
